Forex profit calculator
Before spread, commission and swap. Pip value uses the exit price.
Results assume a USD account and 100,000-unit standard lots. Brokers can differ on contract size, spreads and commission, so confirm with your platform's own specification before trading.
- Profit = pips moved × pip value × lots.
- A buy profits when price rises; a sell profits when it falls.
- The result is before spread, commission and swap.
- Use it after a trade to journal results, or before one to test a target.
The profit formula
- 1Find the pips
(Exit − entry) ÷ pip size. Reverse the sign for a sell.
- 2Find the pip value
About $10 per standard lot on USD-quoted pairs like EUR/USD.
- 3Multiply
Pips × pip value per lot × lots = profit or loss.
Three quick examples
| Trade | Pips | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Buy 0.1 lot EUR/USD 1.0800 → 1.0850 | +50 | +$50 |
| Sell 1 lot GBP/USD 1.2700 → 1.2720 | −20 | −$200 |
| Buy 0.5 lot USD/JPY 150.00 → 150.40 | +40 | ≈ +$133 |
From gross profit to net profit
Your platform result will be slightly lower than the calculator for a winner and slightly worse for a loser, because the spread, any commission and overnight swap are deducted.
Record the net figure in a journal. Over many trades, the costs explain a surprising share of results.
